What Is a Therapy Intensive?

A therapy intensive is a customized deep-dive experience designed to help you move through emotional barriers, gain insight, and heal in a way that traditional weekly therapy may not allow. You don’t have to “catch me up” or squeeze it in before the clock runs out. Instead of spreading sessions out over months, you’ll engage in a structured, immersive process that fosters meaningful change in a shorter time.

Unlike a retreat or workshop, therapy intensives are tailored one-on-one experiences with focused, evidence-based modalities such as EMDR, Brainspotting, Tholage, somatic therapy, and attachment-based work.

What does a Therapy Intensive include?

Each therapy intensive includes:

Pre-Intensive Session

A 45-minute session to explore your history, goals, and how to best structure your intensive for deep healing. You’ll also receive guidance to prepare mentally and emotionally.

Customized Treatment Program

A tailored approach using EMDR, Brainspotting, Tholage, somatic therapy, and attachment-based work to process emotions, release trauma, and create lasting change. The therapy intensives can take place in person at my office in San Jose or virtually.

Personalized Client Treatment Workbook and Post-Intensive Workbook

Two customized workbooks with psychoeducation, assessments, activities, journal prompts, and somatic exercises to enhance your experience and support your healing.

Post-Intensive Integration Session

A 45-minute follow-up session to help integrate your experience, process insights, and support your continued healing.

Before Your Intensive

Your healing journey starts before our first session. You’ll receive:

  • A pre-intensive session to discuss your needs, goals, and what you hope to gain.

  • A structured plan designed specifically for your intensive experience.

During Your Intensive

Our time together will be structured for maximum healing and integration while ensuring you feel safe, supported, and grounded.
Your intensive may include:

  • Trauma-Informed Modalities – like EMDR, Brainspotting, Tholage, somatic therapy, and attachment-based work, to process emotions, release stored trauma, and create meaningful change.

  • In-depth exploration of emotions, life experiences, and relational patterns.

  • Processing past pain in a safe, structured way.

To help you integrate the work we’ve done, you’ll receive:

  • Therapy intensives are ideal if you:

  • Weekly therapy is a great option for ongoing, gradual processing, while an intensive allows for focused, accelerated work. Instead of pausing between sessions, you’ll have uninterrupted time to dive deeper, process fully, and integrate what you’ve learned.

  • I do not accept insurance at Wild Lavender Therapy. To ensure the utmost protection of my clients' personal and confidential information, I have chosen not to work with insurance companies. This allows us to collaborate without restrictions on things such as the types of therapy we can use.

    Therapy Intensives are not covered by insurance. Wild Lavender Therapy’s Therapy Intensives are paid out of pocket. In doing so, you understand that the intensive will not be submitted to insurance, the amount paid will not go to your deductible, and you will not be eligible for out-of-network reimbursement.

  • Therapy intensives can be tailored to your needs, ranging from a focused half-day session to multiple days of deep healing. We’ll discuss what structure works best for you during our consultation.

  • Therapy intensives are designed to support, not overwhelm. Each session includes gentle integration time, grounding exercises, and self-care strategies to ensure you leave feeling clear and supported, not emotionally drained.

  • After your intensive, you’ll receive:

    • A post-intensive workbook with guided journaling and exercises.

    • A follow-up session to check in and integrate the work.

    • Resources to support your ongoing healing.

  • Absolutely! Many clients who already see a therapist choose to do an intensive as a supplement or adjunct to their regular sessions. I can even collaborate with your current therapist to ensure continuity of care.

  • Before your session, you’ll receive a pre-intensive workbook with journal prompts and psychoeducation to help you get the most out of your experience. It’s also helpful to clear your schedule before and after your intensive to allow for reflection and self-care.

  • Yes, we will customize your intensive to address your specific needs and priorities. Some people focus on a single event or theme, while others work through multiple layers of emotions or experiences.

  • Your healing doesn’t stop after your intensive. You’ll have the option to book additional therapy intensive sessions, follow-up sessions, or transition into ongoing therapy if needed. You’ll also receive self-care tools and exercises to help continue the work on your own.
